Web traffic should be the primary objective once the web is perfectly optimized and pursues a clear objective.
What is web traffic?
Web traffic should be approached from the same perspective that we would approach the influx of people to a traditional store. The goal is that as many people as possible, stay as long as possible and buy.
In the case of websites, the last step will vary according to the nature of each website. For some websites, the final goal may be the purchase. In others, the goal can be a subscription or a contact. One of the keys is that the user finds what he was looking for when entering a certain web.
The web traffic will be the one that indicates if a web is optimized at all levels. Maybe the aesthetics is correct and even that the usability is very good, but if the content is not what the user expected, the web will not get results. Moreover, it will be penalized because many users will leave the web and the bounce rate will increase.
Analysis of web traffic data
As important as generating traffic is analyzing and knowing how to interpret the data obtained as a result of that traffic.
It is useless for the web to work at full capacity if an analysis of the data is not performed, in order to know what kind of user visits the web, where it does it from when it does it … etc.
All that information will allow us to focus future efforts. Someone who is not investing enough in the mobile version of their website may find that most of their traffic arrives through that channel.
Independently of the existence of a strategy, it must be open to the variations that come determined by the behavior of the users.
Web traffic and SEO
SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the process by which the visibility of a website is improved in terms of organic results in the different search engines.
Obviously, the search engine that dominates over the others is Google. This causes that the rules of the SEO come determined by what dictates the logarithm of Google.
It is important to keep in mind that traffic is not the same as quality traffic. The goal that must be pursued is to ensure that anyone who enters the web is a potential buyer.
