Creating a mobile app is easy. However, the monetization of this same application is almost impossible, given the saturation of the market by free options.
Thanks to technological advances, the user interfaces of our mobile devices are more accessible and user-friendly than ever before. People download more apps and spend more time there. While it’s great for consumers, it’s much harder for app publishers to make money from their apps. It is necessary to define a mobile marketing strategy for each application before it is launched on the market.
1. Free trial apps
We all know it, use the app and free for a specific period of time, which corresponds to the trial period. At the end of this period the application becomes paid. The objective is to show the interest of the application to convince the mobile user to buy it.
2. Advertising spaces
The application is completely free for the user. Monetization is done at the level of advertising space sold in the form of images, banner ads, videos etc. to advertisers. This advertising content appears regularly when using the application. The pay depends mostly on the click rate.
3.In-app purchases
Offer you the user to download your mobile application for free. But after installing and using the application, it is possible to download additional content, additional features or virtual goods for a few euros. It is a popular business model in mobile games and digital media. The user downloads the game for free and if he wants to improve the performance of his character or accelerate a process he must buy the necessary on the application. The same applies to media offering a free offer, with limited access to information and a premium offer that gives access to all content.
4.Freemium applications
The application exists in basic version perfectly usable and in the paid version, more upscale, with more features. The user can pay for a higher offer if the free version has more and he wants more options. Example the management tools of social networks, in freemium version, they do not allow to link all the accounts and data in the same tools, but the premium version yes.
5.Do not monetize an application?
Some applications are completely free. These are those created by companies to optimize their marketing strategy, improve their brand image, boost their customer service, etc. Free service does not prevent the company from increasing its conversion rate and generating more revenue.
